Beautiful sunny days, warm afternoons, calm waters in the morning. Two former park rangers, one who is now retired :), LOVED EVERY MINUTE! Mt. Baker, the beachcombing, taking a tour of Lummi Island... reading, walking, relaxing and playing with our Laboradors. It doesn't get much better than this. We will be back! We had a great time! For those with dogs, there is an off-leash beach right next to the ferry with a stair entrance across from the yellow cafe. Sit on the steps and watch your doggies wear themselves out. Our dogs got away from us twice and managed to manace the pet deer a couple houses West across the street!<br /><br />Everything was perfect at the house. What a treat to be on the waterfront and still wear shorts and a t-shirt. :) Last nights whipped up winds captivated our attention as we watched the anchored sailboats dance on the waves!<br /><br />Upon our return from Bellingham, we were surprised upon entry by a feathered friend that had likely found it's way indoors via a small opening in the bathroom window!! Now we understand why this is the best kept secret in the Pacific Northwest.<br /><br />The dog enjoyed exporing the public beaches, barking at alpacas, and chasing otter pups. What an amazing find. We did eventurally see a real Blue Heron which was spectacular! A walk on the beach and a storm on the horizon had us bundly up and enjoy what mother nature had in store for us!<br /><br />I can't say enough about the wonderful magic this place has to offer! Heaven, once again, relived.<br /><br />Two years ago (Jan 4) we were in Winter’s Heaven at Beachwood. Island Vacation Rentals found us our perfect getaway. Smiles still abound. And this weekend they did it once again, here at Beachcomber for us. Affording us the opportunity to celebrate the best the San Juan’s has to offer. And to attend the wedding of a native Lummi Islander at the Congressional Church just down the road. We are celebrating Live, Love, New Beginnings for the Bride and Groom and new ‘adventures’ for two of the attendees. Watching reefnet fishermen and being able to get some reefnet salmon (incredible taste—best ever!!)
